cast your dancing spell my way .

This is a Sepia Saturday post.See the others here.
A photo of the Hebden Bridge Parade in the early 1900s
. +    Here are some I took last year.
& below are ones I took today.
Times Change:People Still March!
[ A Link to The Parade website.]
see all 150+ photos i took today here
i have been rather mute here recently. Not long ago i used to post every day! I dont know why I am so shy at the moment?
This is an unusual Sepia post. It's the first time I,ve put up a photo that I didnt "own".I pinched it from an historical website.
But who "owns" a photo? Is it the person who used the camera:the person who put it on a website:the people in the picture?
Anyway.............
I'm off to Italy twice in the next couple of months to my house.

The roof has been fixed. All the interior walls are knocked down. Now for bigger windows & a new Lavvy!
Me and Cathy go see Jackson Browne in Liverpool next Friday night, and Buddy Guy in Manchester 2 days later.Photos hopefully from both concerts.

Oh that photo at the top is great! The clarity is remarkable and this is something we don't see too much over here - never did really. I don't like parades with clowns, but give me a military marching band and I'm in!

The first photo looks so solemn, and the second so bright. It looks like it was lots of fun. I'm sure that during the time of the first photo, people were thrilled to get live music any way they could. (And just to say -- the 3rd box down is blank with a x in the upper corner -- at least on my computer. Maybe it's my computer but if not, I thought you'd like to know.)

Thank You Nancy.
Can anybody else see the "SLIDE" show(3rd down?).

Oooo! Buddy Guy! That's going to be a great concert.

Have fun in Italy, and drink some Chianti for me!

I've seen Jackson Browne and Buddy Guy (with Junior Wells!). David Lindley is playing with JB on this tour - he's great too.

Well, it looks to me as if parades have actually improved over the years. More creative and more of a spectacle - and that's what it's all about.

I love a parade! Here in my small rural California town, we have an annual parade celebrating pioneers, with old wagons, harvesters, hay balers, and tractors grinding down the street. The school bands play. It's wonderfully funky.

I put a spell on you, that good, ol' dancing spell.

I was just wondering about Jackson Brown the other day. I haven't heard anything from him in a long time.

I have a dislike of copyright notices in most cases and particularly when applied to old photographs. I agree with you - how can you own a scene? You had great weather for the parade - it was also Brighouse Gala day yesterday and to have fine weather for that makes me fear for the future of the world. I had no idea Jackson Browne was still alive - enjoy the concert.

I want to know the history of this parade.....you probably have mentioned it somewhere...I will have a look around. It's always hard for me to leave here!
Thanks for the Tull tune...in a league of their own!
Uh er, those FEET...look like mine at the end of a long day in the classroom....thank God for summer vacation!
(Left a reply for you at my place...glad you came by!)

Thanks for posting the parade photos again this year. Maybe one day i can sttend. Do let us know if JB is still eerily boyish.

Is he touring with
David Lindley, by the way? I adore Mr. DAve.

I am a clown hater, too. However, I love a parade ... especially those of the smaller, local variety. I agree with you about the ownership of photographs of places.

Enjoy your concerts, your friends, and your gorgeous two months in Italy! Lucky, lovely you!

Sadly,I'm not going to Italy for 2 whole months.Just 2 short seperate journeys [3-4 days each] to check my drains..........
Yes.It's Jackson Browne plus David Lindley .
The Hebden Bridge Parade only re-surfaced 3 years ago after several years of being invisible (hey! an "Invisible Parade" know THAT's an Idea I like!)
In Olden Days (before 1990s) it was part of the local Gala.....now it's a stand-alone affair.

I always like the this is the way things looked 100 years ago pix.

Children really hate clowns more than anyone.

It looks as though someone is to pop out of those feet!

I'm with Susan, JB sold his soul years ago for youth(?) ... what a great showman, though. -J

My, how times have changed. Our parades look a little scabby compared to our oh-so-proper previous generation. Wow, those feet! I'll have to say they are cool!!

My niece is a friend of Jackson Browne's manager (Buddha) and his wife. My sister actually paid her daughter's airfare from N.Y. to here (CA.) in exchange for letting her go with her to their wedding. That cost a lot more than a concert ticket but it included lots of impromptu jams by J.B. and other musicians. She had a great time. We got to go backstage and meet him one time before this wedding. He was really nice. Yes, still boyish but with wrinkles! (And, yes, still alive, Alan.) Have a great time, Tony.

Oh so Jackson B is still performing out there! Just that mention brought back memories... What a great parade and those feet! I'll come back later to check out the entire slide show, or wait until we arrive home, testier using lap top and staying connected with the broadband....Who doesn't love a parade and I am surprised that so many don't like clowns....safe travels.

I saw Jackson Browne at Glastonbury on the tv. His band looked as if they had been together since the late middle ages. And were tight enough to sound as if they had been too.

Have fun!
