What do Tony Zimnoch & David Cameron Have in Common? Both saw Gillian Welch play live this week...
First Of All.Thanks To Margaret & Don for their company at this gig last night. Also,Thanks for the lift back into Manchester after the show.
Unusually , I took no photographs myself.Partly because of keen Security.Partly because of a fraught journey over the moors. My photo-mojo wasn't working!
Instead, this morning, I stole the above image from flickr. The photographer commented 'Couldn't get too many shots because of the Apollo security nazis. Hastily snatched .......'..Which i agree with, but the photographer then , paradoxically, slaps a copyright notice on their photo.[Preventing downloads etc] So, by publishing this photo ,here ,I must be breaking 2 sets of Copyright?
Gillian&Dave Gave a very slick, professional & wonderfully moving show.Bravo!See them Live on Jools Holland tonight & repeated Friday.
P.S. check other flickr photos here.
Don.Incidentally. On the subject of Amoeba, here is a video of Dave & Gillian.

Lucky you! I've always said it's best to see Gillian and Dave live. I've had that privilege several times now. Too bad about the pictures, though; I'd have liked to see the concert through your eyes.
if you need bail money when they come for you let me know..smiles.
sounds like beyond security, and the moors journey it was a pretty cool gig...
Saw them at Cambridge a few years ago. They're a class act. Glad you had a great evening.
Have no idea who they are but glad you enjoyed it. :)
Bummer about the security but still seems like the show was awesome.
"very slick, professional" doesn't sound 100% complimentary.
Ha Kurt! Slick & Professional was a compliment! It's just that the way they presented themselves + their Music surprised me.It was not as I had expect.
I thought maybe they would be a couple disorganised hillybillies.....Maybe [i imagined] Gillian would cook up a mess of Grits onstage & ladle them out to the audience during the Intermission....A Dust Bowl Soup Kitchen......Instead they presented a High quality...crystal-Sound display.
Really like this tune, even though I never heard of the artists. Why isn't it allowed to take photographs? Odd..
Have a great week dear Tony,
xoxo
Zuzana, It varies a lot in Britain. Some places turn a blind eye to amateur photography..others 'police' it quite strongly (threaten to take away your camera: throw you out; etc). The reason is I think its often because artists want to keep control of Image copyright.also to stop people taking video footage etc. to ,then,be uploaded to YouTube. Also, flash photography can get a bit silly & distracting.
[Personally, I rarely use flash].I often find that the more successful a Band/Artist is, the more likely they insist of Policing Photographers.
They sound great! Good song...kind of sad.
Sounds like a wonderful evening! Sometimes I am rather envious of your life, Tony ... it's so rich in concerts snd musical outings!
I love it when others are lots more social than I am. Take my quota. ~Mary
Let us burn all such copyright restrictions : a proper bonfire of the vanities.
Good music. Good photo too - great capture from the photographer.
