The road to wiggins piers.......

Oh Jesus Christ I am getting Old......It appears,In this brave new world, bicycles are now officially sexy...........
" ................and we can all enjoy ourselves by joining in the Sepia Saturday fun. Couples, cycles, balancing - there are all sorts of potential themes here........"
This is a Sepia Saturday post.Below a photo of my brother-in-law Martin & neighborhood friend in 1950's working class Halifax.See ,literally , bloody hundreds more here
(Oh,If Your North American & haven't been paying attention "Bradley Wiggins IS.  )
below stolen from Ken with thanx.
Well I've enjoyed my Olympics .Despite my best efforts I have dug certain things For instance....a.+ fine female boxer from Leeds:+Mr Wiggins: +Mr Bolt. All Good Stuff!( May Zara Philips and her posh mates rot+ burn in Hell {albeit in an eco-friendly way}What Cameron didnt twig was the more Golds:The more chance of real  people........
Can I Say.Nicola Adams from Leeds who won a boxing Gold yesterday, has one of the most beautiful souls I have seen on TV.She is a wonderful person.I hope the media treat her with respect from now on.
But my applause is muted........
We are in the middle of the worse financial meltdown in a 100 years. We have no right to be smug. Also, East London (a part of Britain I love) will,I fear, end up worse-off in the long-run. So.Instead of toasting the 1% winners, lets toast us,the 99% losers.

I think she is about to take advantage of that little boy.

The photo of the two children is lovely...and I really like shoes with the little straps.

Love the photo! Like Wiggins response to Morgan - you always come up with the best titles.

The opening ceremonies are getting out of hand. They outdid Beijing, but why?

McCartney is due to sing in the closing ceremony too! Mark Chapman has a lot to answer for.....why did he want to kill people alphabetically ?

That trike has everything - a bell and a basket. It appears B-I-L didn't want any help from the little neighbor.

Loved the Medway Wheelers, especially the singer's moustache. I think the little girl is after a ride.
Incidently the 'Wiggins' tweet was a hoax - not from Bradley at all. The lass from Leeds really deserved her gold.

That's a cute photo of the kids.

I have been disappointed with the broadcast TV coverage of the Olympics here. They are leaving out a lot of sports and filling the schedule with beach volleyball and water polo.

I must admit I did feel an urge to replace my perished inner-tubes - but I could't face the (self-percieved)indignity of being trendy.

I have enjoyed what I've seen of the Olympics (Mo Farrar today was gripping stuff!) but none of it grabbed me quite so viscerally as the exploits of Wiggo, Cav, Froomie and Co.

And I for one will not forget the heroic efforts of the medal-less Fabian Cancellara. His efforts to keep going in the road race after his crash was the stuff of sporting legend, I thought. And judging from his condition at the end of the time trial, he was still in agony. If the Olympics were the Tour de France he would have been a contender for the award for the bravest competitor.

U agree with every word of it Tony. Against all expectations, the Games have seemed to help define a new Britain. And as for Nicola Adams - what can you say : just wonderful

much as I'd like to believe the Brad Wiggins Vs Piers Morgan Twitter war.... I've looked through Wiggins' tweets and find no reference to this argument..... I've seen the same thing quoted on Facebook too but I'm starting to think it's a hoax.

yes, Sadly I think it is a hoax;an urban-myth....but Myths are interesting too & ,maybe have a germ of truth in them........? A Fortean asks why do we need this fiction ?
For me, essentially ,Piers is a tosser & Wiggins is currently a Hero.Time to stick my fingers in my ears and go LA-LA-LA- !:)If it says it on the Internet It Must Be True!

Cute pic of your brother-in-law & friend. Never heard of the Medway Wheelers, but enjoyed the video.

I've been disappointed with the Olympic coverage here in the states. While the rest of the world watched Bolt race live, we had to wait until primetime hours in the evening to see the race and so many other events as well. All done in the name of advertising dollars for the network!

A fine photo choice for this weekend's theme, Tony. "Don't touch the chrome," he sez, "I just polished it."

I'm watching the Last Nite Party at the Olympics (delayed) and wondering about the hundreds of blue people holding hands in some kind of human fence around the athletes. That's real endurance, as I couldn't manage 5 minutes without scratching my nose.

I enjoyed the dancing dressage horses and the ceremonies, and the fact that Macca didn't get to sing!

Pity the basket was not in the front as she could have put her ball in it and ride in the back...
This could have been the beginning of a love story, perhaps...

What a shame the Morgan-Wiggins thing is a hoax! It is precisely what you could imagine Morgan saying - and precisely how you could imagine Wiggins responding.

The Olympics - great. But would have been even better if some events had ridiculous costumes like It's A Knockout, or the Oldham Borough Police, or skimpy bikinis... Oh, right, they've done that last one.
