the sea to the land ßeyond.........

{A still from From "The Sea To The Land Beyond," British Sea Power BBC}
The gentle author  hopes your having a good holiday? I have been AWOL from Sepia Saturday a lot recently.However..I must share this video!Some stunning sepia footage.Remarkably beautiful.Enjoy.
nearly 8 minutes of rare footage.Part of a forthcoming BBC programme .Brilliant music (,audio recorded in front of a live audience?...you can hear them sneezing + giggling+clapping towards the end...)...........The past lives on in our bodily functions!
.
....Wind ßack The Clock!Wind ßack The Clock!.......Imagine.......it must be 1967?Walking up from me Mam&Dad's house on The Boulivards.Some sort skool-disco at Trinity....?Ahead of the crocodile is Shirty.Tradmark shirt flapping in the wind & the motion of his swagger....behind him 3 or 4 giggling girls in tow (our very own Davy Jones) I seriously envyed his Rock N Roll lifestyle!

A Video taken in the Upper George in Halifax last night.Singing is 'Shirty ' Whitehead.He was in the same Form as me at Clare Hall School.We went through school together for 5 years between 1963+1968'The lad is wearing well! By the way.......Clare Hall School's Most Famous Old-Boy (really, the only former pupil to make "the big time") was the famous mass-murder John Christie This is going to be my last post of 2012.{I will be catching up with you all over the next week.+adding content to this post.........'sorry I have been AWOL so much recently.} Wishing You All A Great Christmas & Happy New Year! {audio of Phil,Ken & Me Walking Through Halifax Between The Sportsman and The Upper George.}

Happy New Year! I'm wondering whether you have the newspaper comic character "Ziggy" there? I have never known a real person named Ziggy.

tony said...

Happy New Year Postcardy.Well....his real name is Michael Janus Zygmond Zimnoch but was always (even pre-dating David Bowie)called Ziggy for short.

Had to come back to say what a great video that is. I love old footage and there was, maybe due to the soundtrack, a melancholy seeping through. wonderful post. made me think of what I was doing in '67... Happy New Year, Tony!

Thanks for sharing "The Sea to the Land Beyond" video. It made me wish for seafaring ancestors, or at least ancestors who lived near the sea. The music was very ethereal. I hope PBS in the U.S. will show this BBC program when it becomes available. Happy New Year to you, Tony.
