Russian police officers are being given etiquette lessons following complaints about their rude behaviour.
The classes, organised by local government in the far eastern region of Primorje, aim to improve the officers' manners and help them appear more cultured.
Course teacher Smoren Dubroev said he wants to stop cops from using bad language and teach them how to talk politely to the public, even if they were having a bad day.
He said: "I will also teach the them about poetry, literature, art, music and dance to make them more cultured and will show them how important good manners are at the dinner table - even in the station canteen."
The organisers are hoping the new project will not only change the brutish image of the police in Russia but will teach the rest of society a few manners by example.

So much stuff Id forgotten!Graffiti on Dutch Walls (the counter-culture was kicking in);Me riding a Polish horse!;Drunked Polish Family Reunions!Drives through Checkpoint_Charlie............my Dad's first trip home to see his dying Mum..he was on a Polish Passport..officially he had deserted the Polish Army (ie Russians).travelled to UK to fight with The Free-Polish Airforce (in Arnhem/"A Bridge Too Far" etc)He could have been arrested.The risk was real as we drove through the Iron-Curtain listening to AFTERMATH by THE ROLLING STONES......on the car cassette player.........

We drove across Europe to visit Graveyards&Hospitals.Aged 13,I got pissed for the first time on Polish Vodka.They lost me for two hours!I was found in the middle of a small river,talking to even smaller fishes......................................................! (to be continued!)

In 1965 i went to Poland for the first time.We drove across Holland;West Germany &East Germany.I went with my brother Zyg Mum & Dad.
we took an 8mm camera.
About 15 years ago I had the film transfered onto Video.
Mark In Rochdale had a DVD recorder.I gave him the video last night.He is burning me a disc of the video & bringing it to Todmorden sauna tonight!

Speed Cameras

Thought you might be interested to know that following the

Government's Freedom of Information Act you can now get access to ALL

speed camera offences registered in the last 12 months.

Apparently every time your car goes past a speed camera, even 1mph

over the set limit it is registered and put on a database. You only get a ticket if you are way over the limit or (this is the bit that I didn't know) if you receive over 20 near misses you will be classed as

a serial offender and get a ticket the next time you go just over the

limit.This is why you hear of people being done for 32mph in a 30

limit area whilst others doing 36 do not. You can check what has been registered against your vehicle at the following address :

You will be asked for a password but just click on the need a Password link and you will be given one for future use. If there is any data on your vehicle you can click on the camera window to see a copy of the photograph.

Prostitutes in Germany are being given the chance to retrain as geriatric nurses.
About 30 prostitutes, aged 20 to 40, are to take up a two-year training course for auxiliary nurses in North Rhine Westphalia, reports the Telegraph.

Vladimir Villisov decided to have a special coffin made after surviving a heart attack and realising he did not want to leave the magazines behind.

Leaving Prague Airport in 2004 we walked towards our departure gate to see the plane,s incoming passengers walking the opposite way.Among them a group of 20 middleaged fat blokes dressed in lipstick;wigs;highheels;grass HawianShirts & very litte else. The Local slavs are (in Public) a pretty dour lot.They just stared,openmouthed in disbelief at these Brits Abroad (was it a Stag-Weekend?)
Which kind makes me wonder how the good people of Istanbul & Marrakech will react to mass invasions of British Stags&Hens.Ah!Cultural Exchange is a Wonderful Thing!
