"When I write songs,I often picture myself standing on a beach or standing on a rock or a promenade or something. I just put myself there sometimes and without realising it I find myself describing what I'm looking at and often it's the sea.I keep promising myself I'll put myself somewhere else when I'm writing songs but I really can't imagine anywhere that's nicer than that........." Sandy Denny~ 1973
I'm busy reading my Folk Book (see previous post)

Sandy Denny!
What could be better than imagining yourself on a beach? :)
Never got the chance to see her live. Much missed, even after all these years.
A shout back from a celeb! Tres fantastic! And I beleive that the Internet is l'internet in general (The Internet) but is masculine when in writting (Le Internet).
Okay, you have a FB howdy from Linda Thompson. Score!
Annie Briggs was unknown to me so thanks for the cool intro.!
Sandy Denny was rather wonderful was she not?
Confess to never having heard of Anne Briggs but knew of the soimg in Van Morrison/Chieftans version...
Tony does an exceedingly fine blog :D
A beach house isn't just a place. It's a state of mind. - Doug Adams.
Interesting post. I have been awakened to folk over the past few months and have been listening to people like Sandy Denny, Vashti Bunyan and Linda Perhacs. So much great music out there from the late 60's/early 70's. I've also found some interesting, more modern, folk (psychedelic folk) in The Espers, Greg Weeks, Meg Baird, etc.
I Saw Vashti Bunyan at a Nick Drake Tribute Recently In Manchester .She Has A Very Impressive Presence & Voice.
