Because I was helping the Labour Party this week in Mytholmroyd & Luddenden Foot

    When I realised what The Gallows Pole was about it struck me what a coincidence it was that I'm watching the video while drinking a mug of coffee that's otherwise sat on a "Coiner's Seven" commemorative coaster I got given for finishing a fell race years ago down your way, a race which apparently took in sites associated with the story.

    I thought i "knew" Cragg Vale , having driven up&down the main road for decades....,
    but i was walking through the woods last Sunday [photos:] along the byways set-off the road...
    there Is so much I had never seen before .
    I will be exploring more of it this year i hope , following [this map:} which is based on [this book:}
