Wisconsin Death Trip |
By sheer chance on Saturday night (2oth June) i sat down to watch the dvd Wisconsin Death Trip .
The visual motif that punctuates the film throughout is that of the local newspaper Editor typing out his news reports. .....
[I got this film out from Hebden Bridge Library.Part of their current "American Gothic" promotion]
At the same time,i borrowed the book of the same name..
it's stuffed full of glorious sepia photos.Something of a Sepians Bible .
Tricky one this. Sepia Saturday this week has the topic of "typewriters"
. I have no photos of them.....
.I suppose in the those olden ,sepia, days folk were more economical with their film.? Typewriters were ubiquitous & we thought they would live forever. We thought them immortal as we were .....ha! fools, little did we know........
The nearest I have is this photo taken in my late-20th century office in Halifax with my work colleague Calla.
I like Calla, she is my type of woman.......

Ah. Very clever, Calla - your 'type' of woman. Nice going. :)
:)
Typepical, you never can find a picture of a typewriter when you need one.
I got an old 70's typewriter for Christmas... honestly, it is so hard to use. I am so used to typing on a laptop and erasing mistakes in an instant. Typewriters are hard work.
Sx
Yeah, typewriters were probably no more interesting than the toaster and rotary dial telephone - just objects hovering in the background.
Nice play on words there and an interesting photo!
I must be losing it, I didn't even notice "type" as a play on words. Must be harboring some aggression as I wanted to tell the secretary to punch the hard working guy in the face. Some weeks it's just like that, I guess.
We scribbled with pencils. Hammered at typewriter keys. Tapped at virtual buttons on tablets. Where do the words go? From one human thought to another. Like light they have no weight but are still more powerful than anything else made by man.
Gawd - I am so slow....it took a while for the penny to drop but I got there in the end with your type of woman.
Your type of woman? Groaning...I'm groaning, Tony!
Calla is a nice name, but I didn't notice what was probably a pun until I read the comments. (I used "type of person" in my post but didn't consider it a pun.)
I had great fun making up stories to go along with the photos. enjoyable post.
I'm not sure that Wisconsin Death Trip is my type of movie, but perhaps that's why I should watch it.
ok, yeah, i laughed out loud! xoxox
