So We went to see the famous Don Letts ( The Clash , Bob Marley etc etc ) at The Golden Lion in Todmorden last night. Lovely feel .So friendly .

Filming 'Happy Valley' in Hebden Bridge

Nearly 2 hours of Robert Plant and Alison Krauss live! The quality is more than ok, i think.......

I went into Hebden Bridge today for a haircut. 

While there, I took these photos of them filming the new series of " Happy Valley". I'm a bit snooty about the show tbh. But it was interesting to look at how they go about it.

 I was more excited by the fact that half an hour before I took this photo , I had been in the 'Country Stores' and the lass behind the counter was all in a tiz because Robert Plant ( Led Zeppelin ) had just been in to buy a Steak & Ale Pie 

. He had played in Halifax last night , and was driving back over the tops , taking 'the scenic route' 

I always imagine him a veggie. Shows how much I know........ I mean , in retrospect, I might have seen a Plantish figure stood alone eating, near some busker. But everybody in Heden Bridge looks like that! How was I supposed to know....?

Tis a shame,this just arrived this morning. We were quite looking forward to it. Oddly, Sea Powers big tour ( due in Manchester this week ) has cancelled some dates due to Covid. It seems the Gods are restless.....

Frankly I havn't a clue!  blushes..........

But , pop -pickers,it's sure to be a memorable evening whatever!

Sea Power : Hebden Bridge Trades Club

I went to see Sea Power at The Hebden Bridge Trades Club last night !

 Bit of a surprise I was there tbh. Tickets for this Launch of their new album had been sold out weeks ago. I was a bit sick not to be seeing them ( I've seen them 5 times before .The first time being 2006 in Manchester ).But had resigned myself to missing today. 

But i heard it thru the grapevine that ,because of the fear of floods & transport disruption over the weekend , many of their travelling Barmy Army from Leeds & Manchester had blobbed.So tickets to spare! I dashed down to the Trades at 8:30pm on the night , they were due onstage at 9 , and got in ! Phew! From Slippers to Rock N Roll in 20 minutes! I should be in The Olympics !

 A Strange Coda to the evening Halfway through the set , a bloke next to me , had what i think was a suspected heart attack. His partner asked me to "look after him" while she fought thru the mosh pit to ring an ambulance & alert staff. After 10 minutes , she came back with them. and we helped the bloke down the Fire Escape at the back of the building. As he left the building the band played " No Lucifer". And in a further creepy twist, one of their new songs mentions " Fire Escapes" in the lyrics ! I hope he was ok........?

I worked with him for several years. he also came with me to see Bob Dylan in Manchester once.

 We lost touch after I retired. The last time I saw him was during the first Covid Clampdown .I took this photo of him with his " Lockdown Beard". Currently,

I have only been briefly out of the house twice in the last 7 days. 

Flu:nose-bleeds : coughs; blah-blah-blah . I wondered "Covid" but ,thankfully the result was

 " negative".

 Comfort of sorts! Anyway to cheer myself up , I've booked tickets to see Don Letts in Todmorden in May . 

Today's  audio is Elvis Costello Live at The Wiltern Theatre, Los Angeles, CA; June 3, 1991. So,  the image is a photo i took of  a figure on Ken's Living Room wall this afternoon : he has a bust of an arab sticking out of the plaster ( I didn't like to ask...) +  he gave me some Moldovan Chocolates , to cheer me up . The most exciting thing that's happened all week........
